About Me

I am an engineer turned math teacher on a mission to engage more girls in STEM.   I have a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and worked in research & development in telecommunications prior to becoming a teacher.

Now, I  spend my days  working with some incredible middle school students.   Initially, I chose to work in middle school because that is when girls start to “opt out” of math.   Now, I choose to work with middle school students because they fill my days with wonder.  They are smart and funny and all kinds of amazing.    I still want to convince those girls that math is amazing, though.

I believe math is magic only in that it so beautifully explains how things work.   It makes sense.   People who think they aren’t good at math just haven’t had a chance to actually make sense of it yet.
